A
bit of History…
Biola has a history when it comes to radio.
Founded in 1922 by the Bible Institute
of Los Angeles, KJS was the first radio
station devoted to religious programming
in Los Angeles, and the second in the
nation.
By
the end of the decade, Biola's weekly
broadcasts had developed into a show called
The Biola Hour that featured music and
biblical preaching. By 1946, 183 stations
carried it across the nation, and this
base grew as the 40's and 50's progressed.
The Biola Hour continued its run through
the 70's and 80's.
Today,
driven by an intense desire to revive
the quality of the station and bring it
back to the forefront of campus life,
BIOLA RADIO has now been rebuilt and lives
on once again.
With
a music format that also includes:
Live-in-studio interviews
Remote broadcasts of Biola Eagle sports
Concerts and Events

When
the first ever commercial radio station
hit the air waves in 1920 andradio as
a communications medium quickly took a
position of prominence inpopular culture,
the Institute recognized the potential
of this excitingopportunity to reach a
mass audience for Christ. Founded 1922,
KJS becamethe first radio station devoted
to religious programming in Los Angeles, and
the second in the nation. After a slow
start, the station soongathered momentum
and was transformed into an exciting gathering
spotwhere students, teachers, musicians,
and evangelists regularly unitedtogether
with a common purpose.Today
that purpose continues as Biola Radio
becomes a global gatheringspot for the
